For me, shopping for yoga pants is as challenging as finding new jeans. There are an overwhelming number of options, confusing sizing, and unpleasant surprises in the dressing room. So many athletic brands size their clothes on the small side, come in revealing cuts, or even worse revealing fabrics. Lately, I’ve taken to trying them all on at home, thank you Internet shopping!
Don’t give up hope though! Those oh so comfortable, wear them all the time yoga pants are an option at any size. There are several stores successfully competing with you know who in both the quality and price of yoga pants. Even better, these stores cater to curves and ladies of all sizes, an even better reason to support them. Whether you’re heading to yoga, the gym, or just enjoy daily errands in comfort (I do, too!), here are the best yoga pants for curvy girls and plus sizes.
1. The Gap
GapFit offers the same flattering activewear fit as more expensive name brands at a sweet price. While the Gap only goes up to XL, the brand is typically generous in sizing so give them a try even if that’s not your size. For yoga pants with some extra help in the waist area, check out the GapFit gBalance pants. The fold over waist gives you control over the rise of the pants and adds extra control. The 5% spandex and 95% cotton, these so comfortable with a touch of flex.
If the tightness of yoga pants make you feel too exposed, the GapFit gStretch pants have a straight leg for lots of room and that What Not to Wear recommended silhouette (where the pant goes straight down from the widest point of the hip).
At almost everyone’s favorite store, the C9 by Champion comes in few color/waistband options and has a flattering flared bootleg cut that balances full hips. Even though my 3-year old pair is still going strong, I have two.
I really like that the thick fabric keeps panty lines in check and 14% spandex content (the rest is polyester, why they last forever) hugs curves without being too revealing. They fit up to XX and also come in long. These are the best yoga pants for plus size and curvy girls at the right price.
3. Old Navy
Serving up to 4X, Old Navy has everybody covered. A cut that can be more flattering and comfortable wear for full-figured ladies is the capri. Landing mid-calf, the Cropped Wide Leg Yoga Pants have a flowing straight silhouette with plenty of breathing room for summer.
If you prefer full length (or for winter) there is also a boot cut option. These are another affordable, comfortable, and attractive option for the best yoga pants for plus size women as well as curvy girls.
So these are my favorite athletic brands. Any other curve-friendly yoga pants that I missed? Let me know! I’d love to get a new pair!
